Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and how you stay in control.

Effective August 8, 2026

1. Overview

EV Freedom respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website, membership platform, and charger-activation services, how we use it, and the choices you have.

The business responsible for your personal information (the "data controller") is EV Freedom, an owner-operated business based in Los Angeles, California. Formation of a registered legal entity is in progress; the owner and current legal status are named on our Who We Are page, which we update as that changes.

2. Information we collect

You give us

  • Account information — name, email address, phone number, and password.
  • Vehicle information — make, model, year, and (optionally) license plate to help us match sessions to your car.
  • Payment information — billing address and card details, collected and processed by our PCI-compliant payment processor (Stripe). EV Freedom does not store your full card number.
  • Support communications — messages, calls, and information you share with us for support, disputes, or feedback.
  • Newsletter signups — email address if you opt in to updates and deals.
  • Wallet & referral activity — deposits, bonus and gifted credits, invites you send, and who redeemed them.
  • Quote & installation details — service address, property and panel details, photos, and availability you submit when requesting a home-charger quote or concierge service.
  • Trip inputs — start and destination addresses, saved routes, and preferences you enter into the route planner.

We collect automatically

  • Charging activity — station, network, session duration, and energy delivered when we activate a charger for you.
  • Device & log data — browser type, IP address, pages viewed, referring URL, and timestamps.
  • Portal presence — whether you are currently signed in and active in the portal, so our team can reach you in real time during a support request.
  • Security logs — request patterns we use to detect abuse, fraud, and automated attacks.
  • Cookies — see our Cookie Policy.

From your vehicle, if you connect it

If you link your car through our telematics provider (Smartcar), we receive only the data you approve — typically battery level, estimated range, odometer, charge status, and vehicle location. Access tokens are stored encrypted, we do not receive your carmaker password, and you can disconnect at any time from the portal, which revokes our access going forward.

3. How we use your information

  • Provide and operate the Service, including activating chargers and reconciling sessions.
  • Process payments, invoices, and refunds where applicable.
  • Send transactional messages (receipts, session confirmations, account alerts).
  • Send transactional and service text messages and, where you opt in, marketing emails and texts. You can unsubscribe from email anytime or reply STOP to texts.
  • Generate quotes, estimates, route plans, and savings comparisons, including with AI assistance. AI outputs are reviewed before they are used to make a decision about your account, and we do not sell your data to train third-party advertising models.
  • Operate your Wallet, credits, and referral rewards, and detect referral or credit abuse.
  • Provide live chat, in-portal calling, and support ticketing, including recording or transcribing support calls where permitted by law.
  • Prevent fraud, chargeback abuse, and unauthorized account access.
  • Improve our website, pricing, and coverage based on aggregate usage.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Charging networks (EVgo, ChargePoint, Flo, Electrify America, Tesla and similar) as needed to activate a session on your behalf.
  • Payment processor (Stripe) to complete transactions and prevent fraud.
  • Infrastructure and communications providers that host our website and database and deliver our email and SMS (including Brevo), and mapping and routing providers (including Google Maps and Iternio) used to show stations and plan routes.
  • Telematics provider (Smartcar) if you choose to connect your vehicle.
  • AI providers that process prompts to generate quotes, drafts, and estimates. We send only what is needed for that task and do not send payment card data.
  • Installers and suppliers — if you request a home-charger quote or installation, we share the details needed for that vendor to price and perform the work.
  • Law enforcement or regulators when we are legally required, or to protect the rights and safety of EV Freedom, our members, or the public.
  • Successors in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.

5. Data retention

We keep account and billing records for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to satisfy tax, accounting, and legal requirements. You can request deletion at any time (see "Your rights" below).

6. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including HTTPS/TLS in transit, encryption at rest for stored records, role-based access controls, and audit logging. Card data is handled exclusively by our PCI-compliant payment processor. No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to keep your information safe.

Vehicle access tokens are stored encrypted, and optional two-factor authentication is available on your account.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information; to opt out of marketing emails and texts; and, in California, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell). You can update your details, manage saved payment methods, disconnect your vehicle, and request account deletion directly in Portal → Account → Settings, or email privacy@evfreedom.energy. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we may retain records we are legally required to keep (such as tax and transaction records) after an account is closed.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

9. International users

EV Freedom operates in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be processed in the U.S. under U.S. law.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we will update the "Effective" date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in-app notice.
